wh 의문문은 의문사를 사용한 것으로, 의문대명사 또는 의문부사가 적용됩니다.

1)  의문대명사 (Interrogative pronouns):   what, which, who, whom & whose  (* whatever, whichever, whatsoever 등 포함)

2)  의문부사 (Interrogative adverbs):   why, where, how & when  (* how much, how ofter 등 포함)

Wh 의문문

 

 

1)  의문대명사 (Interrogative pronouns)

WHAT:  WHAT is used to ask for information.

• What does this money mean?
• What dress are you wearing tonight?
• What did she do last night?

WHICH:  WHICH is used when there is a choice.

• Which one is better?
• Which novel do you prefer?
• Which pen is red?

WHO:  WHO is used to ask the person who did the action.

• Who is next one?
• Who is answering this phone?
• Who wrote the letter?

WHOM:  WHOM is used to ask the personal object who is talked about

• Whom do you know?
• Who do you know? (x)
• Who knows her?

WHOSE:  WHOSE is used to show possession.

• Whose idea was that?
• Whose book is on the shelf?
• Whose wife is this that has a covid?

 

 

2)  의문부사 (Interrogative adverbs)

WHEN:  WHEN is used to ask the time of an event/action.

• When did you go last month?
• When will she come?
• When can I see you again?

WHERE:  WHERE is used to ask for the location.

• Where are you?
• Where does she live?
• Where are they going?

WHY:  WHY is used to ask for a reason/cause.

• Why did you do that?
• Why haven’t you called?
• Why you didn’t choose that one?

HOW:  HOW is used to explain a process.

• How does it work?
• How do you learn English?
• How has the weather been?
