미국 작사 작곡가인 마이클 쇼왈터 (Michael Showalter) 가 만든 현대 캐롤곡 으로 루카복음 2, 1-14에서 영감을 받아서 예수님이 태어나시는 밤의 장엄함을 드라마틱한 리듬으로 표현한 노래입니다.

 

오늘 크리스마스 미사 특송곡으로 처음 준비하면서 알게 됐는데, 딸과 아들이 바이올린, 클라리넷 연주하면서 가족이 같이 특송을 하게 되어 뜻 깊은 노래가 되었네요.
