[영어] ASK 구동사: ask over 초대하다

 

ASK 동사는 단독으로 사용되면, 주로 물어보다의 의미가 되지만, 구동사가 되면 좀 더 다양한 의미로 확장되는데, 주로 초대하다 라는 뜻이 되네요.

Ask after   어떤 사람에게 정보나 안부를 물어보다

Meaning: to ask for information about someone  

Example Sentences;

• I want you tell your sister I was asking after her.   난 네가 너의 누이에게 내가 안부를 물었다고 전해주기 바란다.
• Did she ask after me in her letter?    그녀는 편지에서 나에 대해 물었나요?

 

Ask out    어떤 장소로 (같이 가도록) 초대하다

Meaning: to invite someone to come with you to a place

Example Sentences;

• Her boyfriend will ask her out good restaurant in downtown San Francisco.   그녀의 남자친구는 샌프란시스코의 좋은 식당으로 그녀을 초대할 것이다.
• My friends asked me out for dinner to celebrate the success of his new funding.  내 친구들이 새 펀딩의 성공을 축하하려고 나를 저녁에 초대했다.

Ask back   (한 장소로 다시 돌아가도록) 초대하다

Meaning: To invite someone to return to a place   

Example Sentences;

• She's been asked back to that college in Massachusette.  그녀는 매사추세츠에 있는 대학으로 가라는 요청을 받았다.
• I wished my mother wouldn’t ask me back to company.  나는 어머니가 나에게 회사에 다시 가라고 하지 않기를 바랐다.

 

Ask over   (집으로) 초대하다

Meaning: Invite them to come from their house to your house

Example Sentences;

• My English teacher asked me over to her home.   내 영어 선생님이 나를 집으로 초대했다.
• I asked her over so we could talk about whatever was on her mind.  난 그녀 생각가 무엇인지 얘기하려고 그녀를 초대했다.
